Netgear unveils Internet TV Player, Digital Entertainer Elite with CinemaNow
We've now got a content provider giving support to Netgear's Digital Entertainer Elite , and that honor goes to CinemaNow . At today's overly-enthusiastic press conference -- seriously, they threw apples, footballs, and a beer can at certain points -- the company showed off the pay-per-view service on both the aforementioned media streamer as well as the new, much smaller Internet TV Player that's coming this summer for $199. It's very lightweight and has an HDMI output alongside two USB 2.0 ports.
Panasonic introduces wireless, 1-inch thick TC-P54Z1 VIERA plasma
Here at the Panasonic press conference at CES 2009, the company finally woke us up with a stunningly thin 1-inch thick plasma: the all new Z1, or the TC-P54Z1 VIERA, in particular. Little is being said about the panel for now, though we are told that it'll be wireless (via an undisclosed standard) right out of the box. In related news, we're also told that VIERA Cast-enabled sets will soon be able to suck down Amazon on Demand content, so it's good to see Panny keeping up with with the Jones family
Matias' Tune Blocker alleviates the need to ever push "cancel sync" again
If hitting that "Cancel Sync" button in iTunes is just too terrifying of a task, the Tune Blocker from Matias is here to save your day. For the low price $24.95, you get the three-foot cable which allows you to toggle between data syncing and charging only modes. For another five bucks, you can score another three-feet of mouseless anti-syncing bliss, or you could just take the economical high road and stick to the included cable that comes with your iPod or iPhone out-of-the-box and save your cash
Hands-on with Panasonic's 0.33-inch thick Neo PDP Eco plasma
Panasonic ended its press conference today with a bang as it debuted the 0.33-inch thick Neo PDP Eco plasma display. We're still scrambling to find out how close this thing is to production, but good heavens, it's sexy. Have a look below. Samsung officially introduces 2233RZ, the 22-inch 3D panel for gamers with two eyes
3D gaming with flickery goggles is old-school tech that won't die, and is poised for a big-time comeback this year. Samsung is at the forefront, hoping you'll go all cross-eyed over its upcoming 2233RZ. The $399 panel, shipping in April, measures 22-inches and sports a healthy 1680 x 1050 resolution, 20,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. If that sounds familiar it should, as those specs all match the earlier 2233Hz , with the obvious difference being that you can
Hands-on with Panasonic's DMP-B15 portable Blu-ray player at CES 2009
We didn't have high hopes going into Panny's press conference today, but the company still managed to unveil a few surprises here in Vegas. One of those shockers was the world's first portable Blu-ray player, the DMP-. Said device supposedly includes the ability to pump out 1080p content, and while we're not terribly enthused about the design, we suppose we'll give it a pass being that's a world first. Sony touchscreen Walkman NWZ-X1000 OLED player hands-on!
Sony's press event is just about to start, but we managed to sneak away and grab some snaps of the heavily-guarded new OLED touchscreen Walkman NWZ-X1000 . It's under some major glass and lights and we were working fast, so we apologize for any blurriness, but that's the price of exclusives, kids. Check back soon for the official shots during the presser -- and don't worry, we're on the hunt for the VAIO P. Linksys Wireless Home Audio and Media Hub NAS hands-on
We just snuck a quick look at the new Linksys home media gear, the Wireless Home Audio system and Media Hub NAS , and it's pretty much what you'd expect. For all of Cisco's talk of platform and back-end and consumer love, the end product is actually pretty humdrum. We can't speak to the actual setup and content integration -- which will naturally be Cisco's strong suit -- but the actual hardware doesn't seem to scream consumer love. The interface on the Touchscreen Remote is pretty slow and a far
Nokia N810 WiMAX reaches 'end of life'
Well, that certainly was a quick little experiment, wasn't it? Just months after quietly becoming available , Nokia has just as quietly slapped an "end of life" label on the N810 WiMAX Edition, officially ending Nokia's consumer-level support for the wireless standard -- for the time being, anyhow. Though we've been able to confirm that the discontinuation is official, no word was given as to why it fell off the market so quickly -- Nokia inststs that it was a "natural" end of life -- but if we had
